SIMON McBRIDE – Rich Man Falling

Great reviews for Simon’s debut album. Guitarist Magazine rates the album four stars, remarking “His songs are far more than excuses for guitar workouts. Hints of Eric Johnson and haunting solos give his style and this album an edge that puts him well ahead of the rest of the pack.” You can read the review in full on Simon’s web site. The January issue of Guitarist (available end of November) carries an interview with Simon.

AllOutGuitar.com and their reviewer Owen Edwards give the album a maximum five stars: “This is a simply storming high energy Blues Rock album! Nugene maintains its much-deserved reputation as purveyors of the highest quality guitar music with this release. Much more of a rock crossover than Nugene’s other releases, I strongly recommend this both to blues guitar aficionados as well as more general hard rock fans. A textbook example of how to combine rock guitar with a bluesy sensibility this is required listening for all rock guitar players. Highly, highly recommended!

IAN SIEGAL – The Dust and other things

The Dust is far from settling! What started as a side project CD with intended limited availability is getting such glowing reviews that we are now releasing it in the shops in the UK (Nov 24). MOJO have it as their BLUES ALBUM OF THE MONTH (January issue, which hits the streets at the end of November). That makes three in a row! Ian’s previous albums - 05’s Meat & Potatoes and 07’s Swagger – were picked as album of the month, and Swagger made it to no.2 in MOJO’s annual chart of Blues releases. A new band album starts recording next month (December).

Ian is now on the books of the Moneypenny Music Agency in the UK. If you are a venue owner/promoter please contact Nigel Morton of Moneypenny.

T-99

The trio that is T-99 made a big impact at the London Rhythm ‘n Roots festival. This was only their second visit to London, the first being to record for Mark Lamarr’s BBC radio show earlier in the year. We will be trying to get them over more regularly and hopefully during the coming summer.

DENNY ILETT

Thanks to everyone who came to the Oxford show and the recording of New Orleans songstress Lillian Boutte with the Denny Ilett band. The next morning they headed into BBC’s Maida Vale studios to record for the Paul Jones show, a session that will be aired in 2009.
