Great press coming in for the new Matt Schofield album, Ear To The Ground.
“Matt and the band bring a sense of energy to a genre in danger of drowning in its own regurgitation. Stupendous playing....makes his contemporaries sound like they’re merely going through the motions.”
Guitarist, July 07
“Evidence that blues in the 21st century is still a potent force.”
Guitar & Bass, July 07
According to Fred Shuster, senior music writer at the LA Daily News: “Matt is probably the only blues guitarist worth believing in these days. The Yanks certainly haven't produced one in decades.” Praise indeed!
If you’re on the east side of Canada then you can catch the Trio making their north American debut at the Montreal Jazz Festival, where they will headline the Scene Loto stage (July 5). They also play the Tremblant Blues Festival July 6 and the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest on July 7.
Time to revisit some of our other releases of the past year:
Guitarist Julien Kasper has a lot to offer lovers of Hendrix and Beck with his singular and melodic approach to rock-jazz-blues fusion. Definitely one of the very best for this style of guitar. Check out his album The New Imperial.
Johnny Mastro & The Mama’s Boys are back in Europe in July and you can catch them at the Belgium Rhythm & Blues Festival, plus other dates. Their latest two albums (The Black Album, and Take Me To Your Maker) have certainly put them on the map in Europe.
If you’re wondering about Ian Siegal, then for you maybe we’ve kept the best till last. Ian’s new album will release worldwide September 3rd – and it’s a killer!! This will cement Ian’s place as the premiere Bluesman in Europe, no doubt.
In the meantime you can catch Ian at shows in the UK, Hungary and Sweden, and for our friends in the Benelux, there are plans for a tour in the autumn.
Check out Ian’s dates at: http://www.iansiegal.com
