Our artists collect the most Blues Awards in Britain

Two Nugene releases are are in the top three Mojo blues albums of 2011. Matt Schofield’s Anything But Time takes the No:1 slot, while Ian Siegal’s The Skinny comes in at No:3. This to add to their respective British Blues Awards. Congratulations to Matt and Ian!
Matt Schofield‘s prowess as a blues guitarist has taken his band to twelve countries; seen him playing with iconic guitarists like Robben Ford; and brought him high praise in the Penguin Book of Blues Recordings as one of only two living British artists in recording history to gain a maximum four-star rating.
Ian Siegal has been performing with France’s elite young musicians in the Orchestre National de Jazz in a program of Billie Holiday songs entitled “Broadway in Satin.” Backed by a 12 piece orchestra Ian has performed with the ONJ at major festivals across France.
Simon McBride has earned rave reviews for his performances.The band was targeted initially at continental Europe and with representation by Live Nation in the Netherlands Simon played major festivals. In the UK he has supported Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Satriani and Derek Trucks.
Nugene has been home to some of the excellent, hard working talent in Blues, roots and associated fields of music. Ben Prestage, soaked in Blues tradition. Denny Ilet, the son of one of the UK’s finest trumpet players. Johnny Mastro, playing harmonica since the age of 9.  Julien Kasper, an authority on Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck.
